With Edward Ruan CPA
When I think about wellness during my CPA journey, I realize that I once viewed it mainly as managing stress and finding time to rest. Over time, I have learned that wellness is also about the people around us and the small things we do to stay balanced.
Like many people working in finance, I have had busy periods with tight deadlines and a lot of responsibilities. When work gets busy, it is easy to focus only on getting things done. I have found that having good connections with people at work can make those busy periods much easier.
One thing I enjoy is chatting with my colleagues. These casual conversations may only take 15 minutes, but they help us get to know each other, share experiences, and build stronger relationships. When you feel comfortable with your colleagues, it is easier to ask questions, share ideas, and seek help. Good relationships make communication easier and help the team work more efficiently.
Outside of work, I try to make time for activities that help me recharge. On weekends, I enjoy hiking, spending time outdoors, and staying active. Being outside gives me a chance to step away from work, clear my mind, and come back feeling refreshed.
Looking back, I have learned that wellness does not have to be complicated. Sometimes it is as simple as having coffee with a colleague, going for a hike, or taking a little time to slow down.
For me, wellness is about finding balance—staying connected with others, taking care of myself, and making time for the things that help me recharge.
