Covid-19 has created massive global disruption. At the individual level, it has resulted in many experiencing higher levels of daily stress. It is normal for individuals under stress to seek out feel-good behaviours, that if repeated over time, can put that individual at risk. At-risk behaviour exist on a continuum and can include things like, overeating, alcohol consumption, cannabis use, social media, ignoring self-care practices, and the list goes on.
In this presentation, Dr. Howatt will provide insights on how when we are under stress our mind can play tricks that result in engaging in behaviours that we know are not good for us. We will provide insight on how to prevent at-risk behaviours from becoming habits or addictive behaviours. As well as what you can do to replace at-risk behaviours with pro-social behaviours that support mental health and long-term happiness.
