FAQs
How many steps is 8 km?
Approximately 10,000 steps, depending on your height and stride.
Do I have to walk?
Not at all! Swap in cycling, running, swimming, or any movement that works for your lifestyle and health.
How do I track my 8 km?
Track your movement any way that works—wearable devices, fitness apps, or GPS mapping. No step counter? No problem. This 8×8 Challenge is all about getting out and moving; exact numbers aren’t the point.
Can I split up my 8 km into smaller parts?
Absolutely. Your 8 km doesn’t have to be completed all at once — break it up into smaller walks, rides, or activities throughout the day.
Is there a cost to participate?
No, it’s free for all eligible CPAs and CPA PEP candidates in Alberta and Saskatchewan.
What if the weather is bad?
You can complete your distance indoors on a treadmill, at the mall, around your home, or in any indoor facility.
Can my family or friends join me?
They can join you for the activity itself, but only eligible CPAs and CPA PEP candidates can officially register and access the Challenge platform.
How do I join the virtual community?
All registered participants will receive a link to the Zoom Events platform where you can connect, share progress, and access daily tips.
Can I participate from outside Alberta or Saskatchewan?
Yes! If you’re a CPA Alberta or CPA Saskatchewan member, or a CPA PEP candidate in good standing, you can join the challenge—no matter where you live.
If you’re a CPA with another provincial body, unfortunately, you are not eligible to participate.
What happens after I finish each day?
Log your progress on the platform, check off your milestone, and celebrate your success!
